09. Dinesen for Café Vins

Café Vins formed out of pure curiosity.

Originally opened as a showroom for our menswear brand, mauk, the space has gradually evolved into something less easily defined. Shaped by the interests and tastes of our team behind the scenes, Café Vins brings together coffee, conversations, books, design and the everyday rituals that have become part of our routine.

The space as a blank canvas, lined entirely in Dinesen Douglas. We wanted the space to feel warm, light and almost like an extension of home — somewhere that could change with the things we bring into it.

Our first encounter with Dinesen was at the Saatchi Gallery in London, where we saw the material used throughout the exhibition. We were drawn to its warmth and individuality, and wanted to bring that feeling into Café Vins, imaging a space that felt like a single crafted volume.

Combining Natural and Classic Douglas allowed us to celebrate the imperfections of the wood while creating one continuous experience across the floor and walls. The same material continues into our shelving, benches and modular furniture, paired with stainless steel to create a subtle contrast. For us, Café Vins is a reflection of the team behind it, a space to bring together the things we are curious about, and a place for others to discover them with us.
